About Him
Hi ladies!
I'm a 30-something guy who has been in Dunedin for the last 12 years, and am looking to meet some friendly, funny, and generally-positive people - and who knows, maybe someone special as well :).
I am very much into sports (especially cricket and rugby), listening to music (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, Blur, John Frusciante), the odd trip away, watching absorbing documentaries, and languages (Japanese and German are ones I have used most). I also enjoy political discussions (not too much), and I love good conversations with substance.
I am also employed full-time in the government sector - in a role that makes pretty good use of my degree, thinking and analytical skills, and also my people skills too. I won't say who exactly I'm working for on a dating profile, but it's not with the Secret Service etc.

About His Ideal Match
Ideally, I'm looking for someone who will be a really good friend. I'd prefer to meet people that will put in a genuine effort to maintain a friendship - if things develop into more than friendship, I would be open to developing something stronger with the right 'one'. This person will definitely need to be down-to-earth, caring, display empathy when appropriate, respectful, and honest. A major thing with me is people changing friendships when they let success get to their heads - I have a few ex-friends like this, and I don't want to waste time with people who discard friends when they become 'successful'.
I'm also looking to broaden my circle of friends a bit - whether you are from a different country, associate yourself to a race different from my own, have a different skin color (etc), I'd still like to get to know you. In saying that, I'm also equally happy getting to know regular 'kiwis' too.
I'd prefer to meet people that aren't so blunt, cold, too business-like, and have little empathy towards others (or animals). If you're down-to-earth, kind-hearted, non-judgmental, love animals (cats are my favourite), and don't go changing your mind every 10 minutes, I'd love to chat with you for a bit - and see if meeting would be the next thing to do to see if we click.
I would prefer to chat with people who have the intention of meeting face to face at some point. I work with computers a lot, but I prefer to meet people in the flesh and get to know them properly. If you're only looking for online chat, I most likely wouldn't keep in contact for long. Real people matter to me a lot - I learn a lot from their facial expressions, mannerisms, their presence... generally everything about a real person you definitely don't get from a bunch of 0's and 1's.
